The Movement in the Music - Jade Lemac’s ‘It’s Always At Night’ Tour

On January 22nd, Jade LeMac took the stage at Louis’ in Saskatoon for the first time ever. Before her outstanding performance, Chiara Savasta stepped into the spotlight with an electrifying performance, setting the tone for the evening.

Chiara Savasta is a singer/songwriter born in the suburbs of Montreal. She spent many moments behind her four bedroom walls spilling out her emotions into her writing. In 2022, she released her first project Summerhood pt. 1, which was followed by Summerhood pt. 2 in 2024. Later in 2024, she surprised her audience with her EP brand new girl, brand new machine

At Louis, Chiara’s stage presence was unmatched, immediately captivating the crowd as if it was her own show. She sang a mix of songs from her older releases to her most recent EP. From the moment she started singing, her voice commanded the attention of the crowd and her presence was magnetic. She brought the energy and built immense anticipation before Jade stepped into the light. When she sang her song Superstar Loser, she completely roped the crowd, turning the room into a shared moment of connection, emotion, and pure excitement. I had the opportunity to chat with Chiara following her performance, and I can confidently say she carries an undeniable light with her. Her kind soul has transcended through every hardship she’s experienced in this era of uncertainty in our world.

Before I dive into Jade’s show, here’s a peak into her journey as an artist. Born and raised in beautiful British Columbia, Jade began writing at the age of 14. She is self taught on the piano and guitar, and had her first breakthrough in 2021 for her single Constellations. In 2023, she signed to Arista Records and has been pursuing music full time ever since. Prior to Jade performing, I had the chance to connect with her backstage. During my moments with Jade, I got the opportunity to meet the down to earth woman behind the music.  She is compassionate and attentive to every person she converses with. Her songs are deeply personal, yet have the power to draw in those from all walks of life, as she shares her struggles with romance and relationships as a young adult. There’s an honesty in her writing that makes listeners feel seen and heard, almost as though she’s taking all those emotions and putting them into the words many people don’t know how to say themselves. That authenticity is what makes her songs resonate so deeply and linger long after the songs end.

Her performance was nothing short of poetic. Performing a range of music that started in her childhood home to her newest EP It’s Always At Night. A couple key moments that stood out to me was her humour during her song Say I Love You. She walked off stage pretending to leave, only to bring back a signed balloon to a fan in the front row. This moment took a gentle stride towards connecting with the audience, and making some of the heavy topics conveyed in her songs feel a bit lighter, as if she was saying “I am here with you” to her audience. She expressed her favourite song on the EP is Sweet Dreams, as she brought her family and friends together in the recording process for group vocals, stating it’s a precious memory for her. The night continued with cheers, tears and a whole lot of belting lyrics from the crowd. Jade has created a community that not only loves her music, but also her.

All in all, Chiara Savasta and Jade LeMac are two unbelievably talented artists, who deserve your attention. When they come back around, be sure not to miss it. I know I won’t.
