Since 2015 The end-of-August Waskesiu Lakeside Music Festival has been the cherry on top of summer in Prince Albert National Park. Situated in the scenic resort town of Waskesiu, the Festival is unique in the amenities offered as hotels, camping, restaurants, cafes, shopping and a public beach are all within walking distance of the stage. The festival, scheduled this year for August 26, 27 & 28, has always demonstrated a commitment to  promoting Saskatchewan indie music, with established artists such as The Steadies and The Northern Pikes headlining more than once and a number of young up-and coming performers appearing onstage over the years.

The Waskesiu Lakeside Festival has expanded its format this year; spanning the entire weekend of August 26-28, the traditional Saturday Mainstage will be supported by smaller artists playing at indoor and outdoor venues throughout the town on Friday night and Sunday afternoon. NSMZ was able to catch up with Dantin Constant of the band Constant Reminder, one of the eight Main Stage artists that will be appearing at this year’s festival.

Seth, Rene, Ethan And Dantin are four brothers from James Smith who now call Prince Albert home. Constant Reminder have been together since 2014, releasing seven albums and playing a full schedule every summer all over Canada. The band appeared at the Lakeside Waskesiu festival in 2016, and are excited to see how the event has grown. “It was a great experience, phenomenal” Constant recalled. “It’s always a wonderful audience, very diverse, and beautiful musicians who play. Festivals are a great opportunity to take a little wisdom from the musicians who’ve been doing this a while, and support upcoming musicians.”

When asked if family festivals offer a different audience than the evening dances and bar shows CR usually play, Constant reflected that “we perform for all kinds of people, all over. To us, as long as people are enjoying themselves, having fun, and loving it, it doesn’t make a difference, they’re all humans being open, free, just being themselves.”

Constant Reminder are looking forward to performing all their classics as well as unreleased new material Saturday, August 27th at the Waskesiu Lakeside Music Festival Main Stage. For more information please visit:
